What if?

Date June 16, 2008

My friend Lanny has started blogging.  After he wrote a book about what God would say if he blogged, I wondered if he’d ever bite the bullet and write one on his own.  Well, he has, and it’s here.  My first experience with Lanny was back in 1990 when I attended his camp in Panama City Beach as a freshman in high school.

Lanny is not only hilarious, he has a HUGE heart.  Go check out what he has to say.

Father’s Day Weekend

Date June 15, 2008

It was a really great weekend!  We celebrated Father’s Day on friday since I had to work most of the day today.  It started off with a surprise massage at Spa Sydell, then off to a great breakfast.  After a little stop at work, Vic and I went out on date night and ate at a Japanese Steakhouse and then met up with Randy and Jill for some coffee.  We are so blessed by Haley.  She’s growing up way too fast and just turns her dad into a big ball of goo on a daily basis.  Here’s a pretty recent pic….

boo with her corn

Anybody else know a 22-month old that eats their corn straight off the cob??

On Saturday, we really just chilled.  We ran some errands and relaxed a bunch and then joined my family at my sister to celebrate Father’s Day with my dad.

This morning at North Point was great.  Overall, the team really did a great job, especially with all of the complexities of the morning with the Spanish Service Pilot happening.  John Woodall spoke this morning about Fathering on Purpose.  In five years of knowing John and hearing him teach, I have never heard him so passionate and authentic as he was today.  His message left me with a lot to analyze about my relationship with my daughter and how I am fathering her.  If I forget everything else from his talk, I want to remember that the most important thing I can do is to instill in her a dependence upon God.  There is not a father anywhere that shouldn’t hear this talk.  Check it out here tomorrow or Tuesday.

This afternoon was a little crazy for me.  I took some medicine I take every so often and it totally kicked my butt.  I’ve been dizzy and just pretty messed up for the past five hours.  It’s been really strange, but I’m finally coming around.  Thanks to sara, my nurse sister-in-law, for taking my blood pressure and checking my pulse to make sure I didn’t have some heart thing going on.  If she hadn’t done that, I think we might have headed to the emergency room to make sure I was gonna live.  I’m feeling a ton better now.  Looking forward to a good night’s sleep soon….

Orthodoxy - Eddie

As I went through my morning at NP today, I was constantly reminded of how good Eddie Kirkland’s new album is.  “How He Loves” was in the pre-service playlist, “Lift High” was in the worship set, and “Never Failed Me” was performed as a closer.  I honestly think that this is a groundbreaking album… and I’m not just saying that because Eddie’s my friend.

If you haven’t done so already, go check it out here.

… that’s me.

I’ve obviously been away for a little while.  I took a quick trip to London a couple of weeks ago for some research, and then took the family to Disney last week for some much needed vacation.  If you haven’t done the vacation thing lately, you should really try it.  I unintentionally took a little break from the laptop for a little for a while, barely even checking e-mail or twittering.  I’m back in the swing now.  I’m sure you were all very worried….

Three Screens @ DRIVE 08

Date May 8, 2008

A bunch of people have asked me how the whole three-screen setup at DRIVE was configured.  To be honest, it wasn’t crazy complicated and could have been done a number of different ways, but we just used what we had to make it happen.  The Renewed Vision boys put together a document that outlines the setup used.  You can download the PDF below if you weren’t able to pick it up at their booth.  We couldn’t have done it without them.

Big Plans…

Date May 6, 2008

I had all of these big plans to break down every session of DRIVE each day and talk about everything that went into making all of the technical stuff happen.  But, that was just a plan.  To be honest, I’ve just been too exhausted, and too busy to really sit down and do it well.  I’m hoping to get to it this weekend, or maybe early next week.
